About
Meet Emily
Emily Wheeler, OTD, OTR/L is an occupational therapist who graduated in May 2025 with a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy. She chose to pursue occupational therapy because of her passion for helping individuals of all ages independently engage in meaningful daily activities and improve their overall quality of life.
During her doctoral training, she completed fieldwork rotations in private practice and outpatient pediatrics, as well as outpatient orthopedics, where she developed experience working with a diverse range of clients and diagnoses. Following graduation, she began her career in outpatient orthopedics while also working in an independent living facility, supporting adults in maintaining independence and participation in everyday routines.
Although she valued her orthopedic experience, she has chosen to transition back into the pediatric setting, while also continuing to pursue her position in an independent living facility. She is dedicated to helping children and their families build confidence, develop functional skills, and reach their fullest potential through compassionate, individualized care.
She utilizes a client-centered, holistic approach to therapy, focusing on meaningful, functional occupation-based activities that support each individual’s independence, confidence, and participation in daily life. In the pediatric setting, she incorporates play-based and individualized interventions to help children reach their developmental and functional goals while supporting families throughout the therapeutic process.
Outside of therapy
Outside of work, Emily enjoys watching NASCAR races, learning to golf, crocheting, and spending time with her husband and their two cats.
